CLEARFIELD – A man accused of trafficking drugs in the Philipsburg area waived his rights to preliminary hearings in multiple cases yesterday.
Leonard “Sunny” Croyle, was charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of heroin, possession of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Croyle is also charged with four counts of delivery of a controlled substance, four counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and four counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Police reported last week that after they began receiving information about large amounts of heroin being sold in the Philipsburg area they sent undercover troopers to make controlled buys. The troopers went to a residence along Copelin Road in Decatur Township. Between Feb. 12 and March 4 four separate controlled heroin buys were made form the residence. The buys consisted of 10 packets, 18 packets, 44 packets and 18 packets. Over $2,000 in official state funds were used for the undercover heroin buys.
On March 4 troopers received a search warrant for the Copelin Road address. The warrant was approved by Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. and then issued by Magisterial District Judge James Hawkins of Houtzdale.
On March 5 members of the state police Special Emergency Response Team executed the warrant. The residence was searched and 47 packets of heroin were found. Troopers also found crack cocaine, about two pounds of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and US currency.
