CLEARFIELD – Students at the Clearfield County Career & Technology Center are continuing to take part in a project to better protect dogs in the area.
For a second straight year CCCTC students are taking part in Houses for Hounds. According to Darlene Smolko, SkillsUSA advisor, H for H was created to provide well-built, insulated dog houses free of charge to area residents who need them for their pets.
H for H is sponsored by student organization SkillsUSA. The team project coordinators are Kristy Graham, a sophomore from POHS, Felicity Cowfer, a sophomore from the Clearfield Christian Alliance School, and Destiney Foster, a junior at CLHS.
The houses are being built by the CCCTC a.m. carpentry students with funds provided by the H for H fund raising event, Mardi Paws.
The students raised several hundred dollars for the project through events and attendance at Mardi Paws and also collected items of pet food which will be donated to the Clearfield County SPCA. Smolko said they are still accepting donations of pet food and items such as paper towels and cat litter as well as monetary donations to continue the project.
The dog houses are available on a first come, first served basis. Interested individuals can call 765-5308 and ask to speak to Darlene Smolko or Robin Steffan for more information.
