Clearfield County DA: Juvenile Charged for Sending Nude Pictures
CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announces that a juvenile petition has been filed charging a Clearfield County juvenile for sending nude pictures.
Shaw identified the juvenile as a 15 year old girl from Clearfield County. The girl is currently in the custody of her mother.
The juvenile petition filed by Trooper William Mostyn of the Pennsylvania State Police, Woodland Barracks, charges the juvenile with possession of child pornography, distributing child pornography, and creating child pornography.
The juvenile petition filed by Mostyn alleges that in June 2007, the girl was communicating over the internet with a 27 year old man. Communication was occurring on the girl’s “My Space” page. While having online contact with the man, the juvenile took nude digital pictures of herself and transmitted the nude photos to the male. During investigation of the incident, state police were able to recover the nude images of the girl from the man’s home computer. Ultimately, the girl and man engaged in unlawful sexual activity.

LTPD asks for Public’s Help in Locating Stabbing Suspects
CLEARFIELD – The Lawrence Township Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating two people involved in a stabbing that occurred Monday morning.
According to police at around 9 a.m. a man entered the police station and advised that he had been robbed and stabbed. Officers contacted emergency medical services and had them respond as the man had three 1 inch stab marks to his abdominal area.
The man told police that he was walking along the railroad tracks behind the Ameri-Gas building in Hyde when two men approached him and asked him for money.

Area Firefighters Respond to Commercial Fire
CLEARFIELD – Area firefighters fought to control a commercial fire at the Mt. Zion Recycling center at 64 Color Lane Thursday.
Engines and volunteers from all over came to combat the blaze: Clearfield, Oklahoma, Lawrence Township, Hyde, Glenn Richy, Goshen, DuBois City, Sandy Township, Houtzdale and Penfield active on scene.
The fire was alerted to at 12:47 p.m. and it was expected to be under control by 5:00 p.m. Thursday. The owner, Jim Hile, was not present at the scene at the time. There were no injuries to either volunteers fighting the fire or workers at the recycling center.

LTPD: Reported Stabbing a Case of False Reports
CLEARFIELD – The Lawrence Township Police Department reported that the search for suspects in yesterday’s reported stabbing case has ended, leading police to the man who made the complaint.
According to the prior story at around 9 a.m. Monday a man entered the police station and advised that he had been robbed and stabbed. Officers contacted emergency medical services and had them respond as the man had three 1 inch stab marks to his abdominal area.

Recently Discovered Bank Account Discussed at Curwensville Borough Council
CURWENSVILLE – On Monday night members of Curwensville Borough Council learned about a previously unknown, non-interest bearing account the borough had containing $150,000.
Council President Mark Curulla read a prepared statement to council. Its contents are as follows:
“Let’s look at the financial situation of the borough.
“Those of you whom have worked previously on council know that I am very conservative with the borough’s money. You are also aware that when I suspect that there is something amiss in the finances, that I am like a bulldog and do not stop digging until I find out what it is.
“Looking back to the previous finances, everyone is aware that the borough borrowed $150,000 in the late fall of 2007 with a general obligation note to take the borough into 2008 until the borough taxes were received. When I came on council in January 2008 council was informed by the previous treasurer (Emma Guarino) that more money would be needed to keep the borough running until the tax money came in so council in turn took out a $200,000 tax anticipation note to get the borough through these times.
