DUBOIS – The DuBois-based State Police have issued a warning about a potential scam in the area.
According to the report, police said that unknown person(s) have used “telephonic communications” with a possible 770 area code to contact area residents. Police stated that the suspicious calls concern compromised banking accounts.
Police said that during the dialogue, residents are advised that their account information is needed immediately. They’re, then, asked to enter and confirm their account number. They’re also advised that if they fail to do so, their card will be canceled.
Police said that the scam is currently under investigation and urge residents not to provide any information via telephone or other communication means about their personal accounts. Police said that if residents have further concerns, they should contact their financial institution directly.
