DUBOIS – While tabled for several months the Sandy Township Supervisors had not forgotten last year’s issue of outdoor furnaces. At the Monday night’s meeting it was announced that the supervisors should have the draft ordinance soon and a public hearing should be available on the subject next month.
The ordinance in progress uses several sources for guidance. The voluntary Environmental Protection Agency. Flu height and emissions will be part of the ordinance.
The voluntary guidelines provided by the EPA give a recommended .6 pounds per millions of BTUs emitted for the soon to end phase one. Phase two drops the emissions down to .32 pounds per millions of BTUs released.
The topic has been discussed for over a year. Last year the supervisors were presented with a sample ordinance, which was sent back to the drawing board to better accomodate the township.
