The DuBois Beavers finished up the season in great fashion with a final game victory over Brookville 46-32. When all was said and done the Beavers snapped a seven game losing streak and created the best season they have had in the last three years at 4-18.
The record may sound awful but the way the Beavers established a solid foundation this year is far from a failure. With some terrible years of basketball in the past, the DuBois Beavers have really improved in many ways. As this year’s underclassmen advance it is definite that we will see a solid program in years to come in DuBois.
Although many times in this season the Beavers have lost, it is a true accomplishment to be able to win their last game. It motivates the younger players to accelerate into future programs and it gives hope to a school that has been less then great at basketball for a very long time.
Rebuilding is a very long straining process for any sports team. However the DuBois Beavers will eventually be a force in their basketball conference.
\”I am very happy for the seniors. They have had a tough three/four years and to be able to send them out with a victory was very special,\” commented Coach Scott Creighton following the game Wednesday night.
Wednesday at Brookville was a very special game for the seniors, but in a way it was very special for the underclassmen and back-up players also, as they truly stepped up to win this game. Junior Dylan Kriner drained 16 points, leading the Beavers victory. Second in scoring to Kriner was sophomore Keith Parlor with eight points.
\”Our benchrefused to allow the seniors to go out on a loss. They really stepped it up in a supporting role,\” Creighton commented.
The seniors do leave this year distraught at seasons of the past. They did not win much, but they gave it their all each and every basketball game and that is where the true strength and pride is in every single Senior Beaver basketball player
