CLEARFIELD – A Beccaria man accused of molesting a girl waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
Joshua Hughes, 21, is charged with aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors and indecent assault.
According to the affidavit of probable cause on Jan. 26 police began investigating an alleged sex offense in Gulich Township. Hughes was staying with the alleged victim’s residence at the time.
The affidavit states that on Jan. 2 between 11 a.m. and 12 a.m. Hughes arrived at the residence. The alleged victim was already inside the residence. Hughes reportedly went into the girl’s bedroom and a conversation ensued between the two. Hughes allegedly kissed her and penetrated her with his fingers.
On Jan. 26 Hughes spoke with state troopers and reportedly admitted to kissing and penetrating the girl. He also related to police that he knew the girl was between 13 and 14 years-old.
Hughes is being held in Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
