CLEARFIELD – Kelly S. McCracken announces her candidacy for Lawrence Township Tax Collector on the Democratic ballot. McCracken was appointed by the Lawrence Township Supervisors in July of 2008 to complete the term of longtime Tax Collector Hazel Shifter who retired last year. Prior to the appointment to the Tax Collector position, McCracken was employed for over 20 years by the Fullington Bus Company working in accounting and office management positions.
Since taking office in July, McCracken has purchased new computers and software for the office. Additionally, she worked with officials from the county and school district to implement the homestead exemptions and payment plans that were used for the first time on the 2008 school tax bills. In seeking a full term as Lawrence Township Tax Collector, McCracken is committed to serving the citizens and businesses of the township and making sure that all real estate and wage taxes are turned over in a timely manner to the county, township and school district.
McCracken stated “I would appreciate the support of the citizens of Lawrence Township and I will commit to running the tax collector’s office using proper accounting methods to insure your tax dollars are safe and secure. ”.
McCracken is the daughter of Harold and Christine Owens and she resides at 706 Cambria Drive with her husband Mark and daughter Amanda.
