BROOKVILLE — The Bisons hot shooting doesn’t seem to be coming to an end anytime soon. Clearfield built on a 20-5 run to close out the first quarter and never looked back on their way to a 68-46 victory over Brookville Friday night. Clearfield’s two headed scoring monster of Matt Shiner and Jarrin Campman paved the way netting 24 and 15 points respectively.
Clearfield came out sluggish in the opening minutes of the game finding themselves down out of the gate. Like most trigger happy shooting teams, the Bisons got hot in the quarter\’s closing minutes with big baskets from Shiner and Campman to spark the teams 20-5 run. At the end of the first quarter the Bisons were out to a 24-13 lead.
Shiner continued his hot hand into the second frame dropping eight points in the quarter and continuing the Bisons push to win the District 9 League Title. Every Bison starter managed to score a point in the second quarter and at the intermission the Bisons lead 45-22.
The Bisons came out slightly flat in the second half, managing only 10 points in the third frame, but the defense came up big making numerous steals and crashing the boards hard. Jeremy Priester, in his first start of the season since transferring from Harmony Area, provided a spark for the Bisons in the quarter by coming up with four points and three steals, and finished the game with six points and six steals. At the end of the third period the Bisons lead 55-28.
With junior swingman Trey Campman missing the game due to a foot injury, the Bison bench came up big throughout the game. Chad Zurat had a tremendous game off the bench pulling down a game high 13 rebounds while chipping in with six points. Tyler Wilson also provided a spark chipping in with five points.
In the final period the Bisons lead by as many as 30 points before the Bison JV’s entered the game against the Brookville starters. Every player on the Bison roster saw significant playing time in the game. When the final buzzer rang the Bisons found themselves on the positive end of a 68-46 score and ran their record to 14-1.
