BIGLER TOWNSHIP – A two-vehicle accident claimed the life of a 24-year-old Altoona man Saturday morning in Bigler Township, the Clearfield-based State Police reported.
Police said that Andrew S. Riley, 24 of Altoona, died as a result of the accident. Police also said that Lucas Walter, 54 of Irvona, who was operating the second vehicle, sustained “severe injuries.”
According to the report, Riley was traveling on state Route 53 about one mile north of Glen Hope. Police said that for unknown reasons, he traveled into the southbound lane of traffic. Police said that the Riley vehicle, then, struck the vehicle driven by Lucas.
Riley was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clearfield County Deputy Coroner.
Police were assisted at the scene by the Madera and Glen Hope Volunteer Fire Departments.
The accident is still under investigation.
