CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Borough Police Department have issued a warning about an attempted scam.
According to a report, a resident notified police that they had received a call from a male. He identified himself as the resident’s grandson and requested a large sum of money be wired to Canada. He told the resident that he was in police custody and needed the money for fines.
Police said that the resident was able to confirm that her real grandson was not in Canada and did not need the money. Police advised that all residents use caution and confirm the “true facts” before sending money to anyone.
