CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Borough Police Department is warning residents about a recently reported scam.
According to police a borough resident received a call from a man that identified himself as the resident’s grandson. The caller requested that the resident wire a large amount of money to Canada. He told the resident that he was in the custody of Canadian police and needed money for fines.
The resident was able to confirm that the real grandson was not in Canada and did not need money for fines.
The CBPD advises all residents to use caution prior to sending money out without confirming who the requestor is.
