The DuBois Area Beavers fell to the Punxsutawney Chucks 54-44 at home Monday, making them 1-6, with 5 losses in a row.
The DuBois Beavers 2nd and 3rd year players are starting to see a familiar sight, as the Beavers are starting another year deep in the hole. Monday night’s game was another game that DuBois let get away. After playing well in the first two periods all year long, the Beavers did the same during this game.
They went in at halftime with the game 24-20, in favor of the Chucks, but like games of the past after only falling behind by four points; the Chucks defense toughened up, and they took control, holding the Beavers to just four points in the 3rd period. Like DuBois has done in the past, they applied a strong effort and had an excellent 4th period scoring 20 points, but falling short on the comeback losing 54-44.
The Beavers still spread the ball well, as nine players scored for the Beavers. High scorer for the Beavers was Senior Cody Schalk with 15. Jordan Labue also got a piece of the action scoring nine points, as Brant Davis, Zach Beahr, and Garret Peterson each finished with four.
The important point of this game was to regain some esteem for the DuBois Beavers. Head Coach Scott Creighton is constantly encouraging his players to play as hard as the can no matter how far they are behind. The struggle for DuBois is that they are unable to rebound. In the game against the Chucks the Beavers only pulled down 19. DuBois does look ahead at an easier end of the schedule after the Holidays.
