“The Blue Room Christmas Tree is beautiful – and the personal connection with the citizens by having artists from across the nation decorate the tree is all that more inspiring,” said Congressman John Peterson. “The First Lady does a stellar job decorating the White House for Christmas, and to have a local artist assist in that effort is a tribute to Nancy Andrews, who is a dedicated art teacher in the Forest Area School District and an accomplished artist in her own right.”
The First Lady invited Members of Congress to select a local artist to craft an ornament that is commemorative of their state and district to hang on the tree.
“With the 150th anniversary of the discovery of oil at Drake’s Well around the corner, it was fitting that Nancy choose to craft her ornament in the same theme. Words simply cannot describe the fine detail and craftsmanship that went into designing and painting this ornament. Nancy should be congratulated on a job well done and in representing the Fifth District with distinction,” said Peterson.
