HERSHEY – Ralph McClarren, West Decatur , president of the Clearfield County Farm Bureau, led the official delegates representing the local Farm Bureau at the state-level annual meeting. The sessions were held Monday through Wednesday, Nov. 17-19 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center.
Many issues important to agriculture’s future were highlighted when several members of the Clearfield County Farm Bureau joined with hundreds of farmers from across the Commonwealth at the 58th State Annual Meeting of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. The local delegation led by President Ralph McClarren included his wife, Donna McClarren, delegate, Leon Kriner, retiring State Director, his wife Hazel Kriner, Women’s Leadership Committee, Richard Hansel, Second Vice President and Joe Daimond, Regional Organization director.
More than 200 policy resolutions on farm and rural topics submitted by 54 county Farm Bureaus were discussed and decided by voting delegates, providing the organization direction to represent agriculture in Harrisburg and Washington.
Several informational seminars were featured on topics ranging from natural gas exploration in Pa. to new ways of generating dollars for farm conservation practices. Farm Bureau members attended all seminars at no cost.
Pennsylvania Farm Bureau also recognized county Farm Bureaus and many individual members for outstanding achievements during the past year.
The Clearfield County Farm bureau is a voluntary organization that works to advance the interests of agriculture and rural communities. It offers numerous benefits and services to its 170 members, and is affiliated with the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and the American Farm Bureau Federation.
