The 2008 Bisons football team has established themselves as one of the best
teams in the storied history of Clearfield Area High school.
On Friday night at E.J. Mansell Stadium in DuBois the Bisons have a chance to do
something no other Clearfield team has done under Head Coach Tim Janocko,
and that is win two state playoff games in the same season. It won’t
be an easy task though, as the Bisons take on the top ranked team in AAA
in the state – the Erie Strong Vincent Colonels.
The Colonels are lead by senior everything man Deonte Flemings. Flemings,
who is garnering offers from numerous division 1 programs, has rushed for
513 yards and thrown for 219 to go along with his 16 touchdowns.
Flemings is no slouch on defense, intercepting five passes from the
secondary. Senior halfback Darrell Brooks has put up monster numbers
running for over 1,400 yards and scoring 22 touchdowns. Jordan Ferraro
and Emari Tangle have also chipped in with 500+ rushing yards apiece.
The Colonels offense has only been outdone by one thing this season –
their defense. Strong Vincent set a streak at one point in the season
where they shut out four teams in a row, including Bradford and DuBois.
The Colonels are averaging allowing only a little over six points per game.
Strong Vincent’s defense has not seen an offense that has put up the
numbers the Bison have this season. The Clearfield offense is led by
senior quarterback, and the only player in District 9 history to rush
and throw for over 1000 yards apiece in a season, Jarrin Campman.
Campman has taken over the Bisons last two games scoring every one of
the Bisons touchdowns in victories over St. Marys and Brashear.
Isiah Morgan, the district\’s leading rusher, has amassed over 1500 yards
and scored 19 touchdowns. If Clearfield is going to challenge the
stingy Colonels defense Campman and Morgan will have to get rolling
early.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at E.J. Mansell Stadium in DuBois.
