CLEARFIELD – What do two bounce houses and 566 people have in common? They all fit into the sanctuary of the Hyde Wesleyan Church Wednesday night as the second annual Harvest Festival went off as scheduled in spite of snow and high winds. Poor weather forced the church to abandoned attempts to erect tents and pavilions, so activities were moved indoors including carnival-style games, face painting, magic tricks, balloon animals, popcorn, cotton candy, hot dogs, punch and cocoa.
Only the trunk-or-treat and the maze were placed outside. Church members decorated 27 cars trunks and hosted trick or treaters. Kids of all ages from babes in arms to teens came dressed in costume and joined in the fun.
According to Youth Pastor David Finlay, the turnout was phenomenal. “Clearfield Elementary cancelled its planned event this evening, so children and their parents came to the church. We appreciated all who turned out to make Harvest Festival 2008 such a success and plan to host it again next year.”
