DUBOIS – The Clearfield fall baseball team grabbed a 6-5 lead with two runs in the top of the ninth inning, but DuBois answered with a pair to pull out a 7-6 win at Showers Field Thursday evening.
Mario Gregorio singled to drive in the tying run and scored the winning run on a hit by Eric Liddle with one out.
Aaron Sayers\’ RBI-double was the key hit for Clearfield in the top of the ninth. Justin Hoffman beat out an infield hit to plate Sayers with the go-ahead tally.
Garrett Samsel singled twice for Clearfield, which jumped in front with three runs in the first inning and held the lead until the hosts drew even with singletons in the fourth and fifth frames. Two of Clearfield\’s five miscues helped DuBois take a 5-4 edge in the seventh.
Richie Pruzinsky paced the winners with three singles.
Clearfield fell to 1-9, with six of the losses by three runs or less.
Manager Sid Lansberry\’s team will go to Brookville Saturday for a 1 p.m. nine-inning game and then play a 1 p.m. double-header against St. Marys Sunday at the Lawerence Township Recreation Park diamond.
