PHILIPSBURG – After cutting Philipsburg\’s lead to 4-3 in the top of the fifth inning, the Curwensville Teener League 13-and-14 All-Stars saw the hosts score nine runs in their next two at-bats for a 13-3 win Wednesday evening.
The Area VI Tournament game was halted in the bottom of the sixth because of the 10-run rule.
Curwensville fell to 1-1 and will be idle until next week when it plays at Punxsutawney (0-1) Monday and welcomes Philipsburg (1-0) Wednesday in 5:30 p.m. games.
Jordan Lancaster\’s two-run double capped Curwensville\’s rally. Hunter McCracken singled across the other run.
Lancaster pitched into the fifth inning and took the loss. Boone McGary relieved.
Shane Hoover, Boone McGary, Jason Bloom and Austin Turner had the other hits for Curwensville.
Lancaster was the loser, pitching into the fifth inning before being relieved by McGary.
