PHILIPSBURG – The Curwensville Little League 9-and-10 All-Stars staved off elimination from the District 5 Northern Tier Tournament again Tuesday evening by defeating Philipsburg 12-1 in 3-1/2 innings at Homer Maney Field.
The game had been suspended because of rain Monday evening with Curwensville leading 2-0 in the second inning.
Jake Terry pitched a three-hitter and had two hits, one a three-run double, as Curwensville (3-1) advanced to the championship game against Four-Leaf Clover (3-0) Wednesday at Morrisdale.
If manager Rich Terry\’s team hands Four-Leaf Clover its first loss to force an extra game, it will be played at Curwensville Friday evening.
Jaden McDermott rapped three singles, Curtis Linsenbigler socked a single and two-run double and Shae Bloom stroked a double for Curwensville.
The extra base hits by Jake Terry and Linsenbigler highlighted a nine-run rally in the second inning.
Terry struck out three and walked one for his second tourney win.
