CURWENSVILLE – Philipsburg-Osceola came up with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to hand the Curwensville Little League 9-and-10 All-Stars a heart-breaking 7-6 loss in District 5 Northern Tier action at William Beyer Memorial Field Tuesday evening.
Curwensville, which lost the coin toss and was the visiting team, scored five runs in the second inning for a 6-2 lead, but P-O (2-0) pecked away in the next four innings to advance to the winner\’s bracket final against Four-Leaf Clover Saturday.
Jadon McDermott had two hits, one a double, and drove in two runs and Hunter Lancaster added a double for Curwensville, which goes to Snow Shoe Thursday for a loser\’s bracket quarterfinal game against Mountain Top.
Mitch Winters singled and doubled for P-O.
Will Granville, P-O\’s third pitcher, was the winner.
Curwensville\’s McDermott, Jake Terry and loser Curtis Linsenbigler gave up only five hits. They combined for four strikeouts and seven walks.
In the other game Tuesday, Four-Leaf Clover downed Mountain Top 15-2 in four innings.
