It took 8 innings for Clearfield Bank & Trust to beat J&E Plumbing by a score of 5-4. CB&T opened the top of the 1st inning with 4 runs, highlighted by a Curtis Frye triple for the only hit of the inning.
J&E scraped in a run in the bottom of the 2nd inning with a Steve Miller base hit. Starting pitcher Steve Miller for J&E pitched 7 strong innings for 14 strikeouts and held CB&T with 1 hit and stranded 7 men on base.
Curtis Frye had a 12 strikeout performance through 7 innings for CB&T. J&E got 2 runs back in the 6th with a single from Matt Josephson and Shane Harper plated him with triple. Steve Miller then drove in Harper with a single. Kory Smith started the bottom of the 7th with a triple and scored on a fielder\’s choice to knot the game at 4-4.
Tyler Knepp singled in the top of 8th, stole 2nd and moved to 3rd on a fielder\’s choice. Jon Palumbo flew out to center, Knepp then scored the go ahead run.
Tyler Knepp came in to pitch in the bottom of the 8th and shut the door for the final 3 outs to perserve the win. CB&T only had 2 hits in the game.
CB&T improves to 7-5 on the season.
