Police Identify Fatal Accident Victim
PINE TOWNSHIP – The Clearfield State Police have identified the driver whose life was claimed in early morning accident along Interstate 80 on Thursday.
According to the report, Eugene R. Wolfe, 38, of Jersey Shore, died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.

I-80 Accident Leaves New York Resident Moderately Injured
PINE TOWNSHIP – According to state police in Clearfield an early morning accident left one New York driver injured.
The accident occurred around 4:14 a.m. Thursday morning near mile marker 108.5. A 45-year-old Ridgewood, N.Y. man was traveling west in the right lane, as was Jerry Wardalski of Brooklyn, N.Y.
The Ridgewood man lost control of his vehicle causing him to strike Wardalski’s vehicle. After impact Wardalski traveled to the right berm and came to rest facing west. The Ridgewood man came to rest in in the right lane of traffic, also facing west.

Final Land Development Plan for Sunnyside Ethanol Project gets Green Light
CURWENSVILLE – Following two meetings in one night, the Sunnyside ethanol project got the green light to begin work on their nearly $400 million project.
The Sunnyside project will be a waste coal powered plant at the old Howe’s Leather Co. site. Plans are for the plant to produce 80 million gallons of the fuel per year.
The Curwensville Planning Commission met first.

Fatal Accident on US 322 Claims Life, Leaves Others Injured
BRADFORD TOWNSHIP – State police in Clearfield reported that an automobile accident on U.S. Route 322 Monday shortly before noon claimed the life of one female and left others injured.
According to police the accident occurred between Woodland and Bigler. Police stated that Michael Hanright of Allport was traveling east on U.S. Route 322 when he left the roadway in an attempt to pass Stanley Hale of Hermitage. He swerved, left and reentered the roadway directly in front of Hale’s vehicle, at which time the left side of his vehicle struck the right front of Hale’s vehicle. After impact Hanright entered the westbound lane of U.S. Route 322 directly in front of Stephen Cowher of Tyrone, at which time the two vehicles struck each other. After that Hanright’s vehicle struck a utility pole.

Police Investigating Hanright Death
CLEARFIELD – The state police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old Morris Township man who was involved in a three-vehicle accident which resulted in five people being flown from the scene, including two children, on Monday.
According to the report, Michael Philip Hanright, 23 of Allport, died as a result of a self inflicted, single gunshot wound to the head later on the same day.

Curwensville Borough to Have Representation at Upcoming LMIP Meeting
CURWENSVILLE – Curwensville Borough’s interests will be represented at next week’s Local Municipality Involvement Process meeting for the proposed Harmony Residual Waste Landfill in Chest Township.
At the meeting, DEP will provide information about the regulations, policies and permitting process.
At the meeting both the local municipalities and the county will have the opportunity to identify concerns in respect to the project. Although the goal is not to respond to issues, notice will be taken of any comment.

Clearfield Boro Will Submit Letter at LMIP Meeting
CLEARFIELD – Members of the Clearfield Borough Council plan to attend the Local Municipality Involvement Process (LMIP) meeting to state their opposition to the proposed Harmony Residual Waste Landfill in Chest Township. The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Harmony Area High School Cafeteria.
At the meeting, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will provide information about the regulations, policies and permitting process.
Officials from both the local municipalities and the county will have the opportunity to identify concerns in respect to the project.

Taylor, Pataky Fix Eyes on Beijing
CLEARFIELD – Both began wrestling as youngsters and were about 6 or 7-years-old. Each collected three state medals as varsity wrestlers at Clearfield. Now, former Bison Timothy Taylor and Brad Pataky aspire to reach another podium this weekend at the Olympic Team Trials in Las Vegas, NV.
Pataky thought about the idea, before he ever took the mat in a varsity singlet.
“I took up freestyle wrestling in the eighth grade and knew it was an Olympic style. I‘ve loved it ever since,” he said.

Curwensville Borough Council Lays off Police Officer, Down to Two
CURWENSVILLE – A municipality facing an economic crisis cut another member of the municipality’s work force.
Curwensville Borough Council temporarily laid off police officer Jim Ward, effective Friday. Curwensville Borough Council is now down to two police officers, Chief Dave Johnson and Officer Mike Rowles.

Botched Burglary Leaves DuBois Businessman Dead, Suspect in Custody
DUBOIS – A robbery in progress at the Nelson House in DuBois on Saturday resulted in man dying and another being captured by police.
According to the DuBois City Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area of North Main Street and Quarry Avenue around 6:16 a.m. for a report of a man chasing another man on foot near the Nelson House. En route police received additional information stating that a man was lying on the sidewalk along North Main Street in front of the Nelson House.

CCCTC Partners with Clearfield LHU, Will Offer Ethanol Production Courses
CLEARFIELD – In order to provide education and training of ethanol production, the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center will partner with the Lock Haven University – Clearfield Campus this fall.
Lois Richards, executive director, said Rudy Fogelman, vice president of operations at BioEnergy International LLC, contacted her, as he would like to hire local people, when the ethanol plant opens.
“But they need people who have the training and knowledge of ethanol production,” she said.
