PINE TOWNSHIP – The Clearfield State Police have identified the driver whose life was claimed in early morning accident along Interstate 80 on Thursday.
According to the report, Eugene R. Wolfe, 38, of Jersey Shore, died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.
Police said the accident occurred when a 2001 International driven by Brian McNicholas of Janesville, WI, was stopped in the westbound right lane of travel for an accident ahead of him. He began to enter the left lane in order to bypass the accident, when he was struck from behind by a 2005 Freightliner driven by Wolfe. The Freightliner came to rest and partially blocked the left lane of travel. The McNicholas vehicle came to rest and blocked the entire left lane of travel.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. McNicholas was not injured.
