CURWENSVILLE – Curwensville Borough’s interests will be represented at next week’s Local Municipality Involvement Process meeting for the proposed Harmony Residual Waste Landfill in Chest Township.
At the meeting, DEP will provide information about the regulations, policies and permitting process.
At the meeting both the local municipalities and the county will have the opportunity to identify concerns in respect to the project. Although the goal is not to respond to issues, notice will be taken of any comment.
Curwensville Borough Council member Sam Ettaro volunteered to attend the meeting and present the issues the proposed landfill may have on Curwensville Borough.
Ettaro and other council members agreed that the biggest impact on the borough would be 70-80 waste trucks passing through Curwensville Borough on a daily basis.
“We don’t need that,” said Ettaro.
The LMIP meeting is schedule for June 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Harmony Area High School Cafeteria. The meeting is not open to the general public but is open to officials of the host municipality and county as well as those that are in close proximity and can demonstrate an adverse impact by the project on their area.
