What’s better for Philipsburg- an eyesore of a vacant lot on the corner of Front Street and Presque Isle; or a new library?
Philipsburg has been presented with an opportunity for a much needed, valuable resource. Centre County Library Systems proposed a new library building. The building plans were rejected due to an ordinance regarding the height of the building. It was short by four feet. It is completely outrageous to think that borough council would deny the community such an asset over four feet of building.
The library offers so many important programs for children and adults. In the interest of growing and bettering our community; shouldn’t literacy be a priority?
Borough council should be acting in the best interest of the community, not meeting their own agendas. We should welcome and celebrate this new library, no matter how tall the building is.
