STRONGSTOWN, PA – Dan Angelicchio of Greensburg picked up his first ever Dog
Hollow Speedway feature win in the Stoystown Auto Wreckers Fastrak Late
Models on Nanty Glo Auto Sales trophy night Friday while “Crazy” John Mazey of
Bolivar picked up his first feature win of the season in the Brush Valley Tire
Pure Stocks and it was Rick Dean of Greensburg driving the Merle Billott #00
to victory in the Texas Auto Ranch Four Cylinder Sidewinders.
Repeat winners included Dave Satterlee of Home in the Townsend gas and Oil
Late Models and Scott Stein of Cherry Tree in the Jeff Dick Street Stocks.
The late models took to the speedway with Darrell Dick and Bernie Whiteford
on the front row, with Dick taking the lead and Whiteford in second Billy
Eash in third. Ben Satterlee was fourth and his dad, Dave, was coming from 13th
to the front.
By the third lap Whiteford had the lead and Eash was second with Ben
Satterlee third and Dave in fourth. A caution slowed the race and Ben was using the
line his dad has made work time after time, the outside, he was also making
it work and was pulling along side Whiteford and they made an Eash sandwich at
one point, but Ben went off the edge of the backstretch and lost several
positions on lap 8, then Dave Satterlee began to make his move and ended up
taking the lead on lap 12 and the eventually the win. The top five were: Dave
Satterlee, Eash, Ben Satterlee, Whiteford and Shawn McGarvey. Dave Day, Terry
Rayko, jeff Weakland, Bill Krause and Tom Shaffer rounded out the top 10. Heat
wins went to the Satterlees, Ben and Dave.
Justin Kann and Daniel Angelicchio led the Fastrak Late Models to the start
with Angelicchio taking the lead and holding off Kann for three laps, but
Kann began to fade as Gary Stahl took second and was holding his own with Roger
Laughlin in third. The race finished that way with Angelicchio holding on to
win with Stahl, Laughlin, Kirby Tucker and Tom Snyder. Jeff Enos, Tommy
Kronenwetter, Kann, John Eckenrod and Ron Smithley completed the top 10.
Heats were won by Ron Smithley and Dan Angelicchio.
Tyler Hite and Denny Keener led the street stocks to the green, but it was
fifth place starter Jim Boyer who led the first lap of the feature. Boyer,
making his return after a brief retirement was in his normal form, racing for
the win. He was leading Hite, Mike Laughard and Ray Charles. On the eighth lap
13th place starter Scott Stein was sitting second and by lap 11 he was
leading, but Boyer fought back but couldn’t get around Stein. The top five were:
Stein, Boyer, Charles, Hite and Laughard. The rest of the top 10 were: Dave
Galore, Matt Hugill, Rick Henry, Dave Whetstone and Charlie Trice. Heat wins
went to Tyler Hite and John Kinsey.
Rich Powell and John Mazey led the pure stocks to the Mazey taking the lead.
He was followed by Powel, Justin Queen and Marshall Detwiler. The top four
were were under a blanket and swapped positions several times each lap, but it
wasn’t until lap nine the Powell led at the line. He kept the lead until lap
12, with Mazey, Queen and Detwiler all still on his tail, then on lap 13,
Mazey regained the lead with a caution waving, setting up a two lap dash for the
checkered. Mazey was able to hold off all challenges and took his first win
of the season. The top five were: Mazey, Powell, Queen, Detwiler and Dave
Wells Jr. Derek Stiffler, Mike Silk, Nathan good, Tony Daughenbaugh and Jeremy
Shaffer completed the top 10. The rest of the top 10 were: Randy Wilkinson,
Adam Pletcher, Thomas Whiteford, Wesley McKeel and Samantha Harasty. Tim Good,
Rich Powell and John Mazey won the heats.
In four cylinder action Cory Kilgore and David Rocker led the field to the
start, with fourth place Rick Dean taking the lead in the Jason Bialowas #00.
Second place changed hands often, with Kilgore, Rocker, Joe Petyak and Chris
Hickok all sharing time in second, but when Bob Sullenger waved the checkered
flag it was Dean winning over Hickok, but Hickok was disqualified in a post
race tech, the top five were Dean, Jesse Laughard, Adam Laughard, Scott Shirk
and Paul Little. Heat wins were won by Brennan McCracken, Cory Kilgore and
Jesse Laughard.
