DUBOIS – Pinch-hitter Richie Pruzinsky\’s one-out single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave DuBois a 2-1 win over Clearfield in a Jefferson County Legion League game at Showers Field Tuesday evening.
Winner Dante DeSantis and Post No. 6 right-hander Michael Moyer matched three-hitters through seven innings.
DeSantis kept his intact in the eighth, but Moyer ran into trouble when Brandon Palumbo singled up the middle, moved to second on Jordan LaBue\’s sacrifice bunt and took third on a wild pitch.
With the Chiefs\’ infield pulled up, Pruzinsky looped his game-winning hit to short right center.
Moyer struck out seven and didn\’t walk a batter.
DeSantis fanned four, walked four and hit three Chiefs but was aided by two double plays.
DuBois (2-0) scored in the first inning on singles by DeSantis and Kasey Clinton and a throwing error.
Clearfield (1-2) posted the equalizer in the third when Adam Jury singled to plate James Zimmerman, who was hit by a pitch and stole second base.
The Chiefs will visit Reynoldsville Thursday for a 6 p.m. game.
