CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough’s chief is looking into the possibility of making East End a little safer.
Borough Police Chief Jeff Rhone informed council that he will be sending a letter to PennDOT requesting that the state agency perform a road study around Fairview Avenue. This would include the restriction of a left turn from Woodland Road, the reduction of speed from 35 to 25 miles per hour on Woodland Road and the placement of playground signs.
Rhone wanted to give the council a heads-up in case they received anything from PennDOT regarding signage or a speed limit change.
Fred Wisor, council member, said that he believed PennDOT did a study in that area in recent years.
Fellow council member Barry Reddinger said that he requested PennDOT place a speed display sign up there a few years back.
According to a prior GantDaily story, the speed diplay sign was placed in late March 2006.
“I’ve always said some kid’s going to get hit up there,” said Reddinger.
“Cars fly up there.”
Rhone asked if someone could check to see if a study had been done in the area before he sends his letter.
