District 9 high school playoff games for the Clearfield and Curwensville baseball teams were postponed because of wet grounds Thursday and rescheduled for Friday at 4:30 p.m.
The third-seeded Bisons (6-14) will return to Berwind Park in St. Marys for a Class AAA semifinal game against the No. 2 seed Flying Dutch (13-7), with the winner advancing to the championship contest against top seed Punxsutawney (12-6) on Wednesday at a site and time to be announced.
The 14-6 Golden Tide, seeded No. 4 in Class A, will host Ridgway in a quarterfinal test at the Curwensville Area High School Field.
The 12th-seeded Elkers are 8-9 after surprising No. 4 seed Elk County Catholic 3-0 behind Mike Miraglia\’s four-hit, 11-strikeout pitching. He walked five.
Senior ace Nick Brennen suffered the loss for the 12-8 Crusaders. He allowed only five singles and four walks while striking out 10.
The Elkers scored all of their runs in the second inning on singles by Joe Renaud and Hudson Rees, two Crusader errors and an RBI-single by Jerico Weitzel.
The only player in the game with more than one hit was Weitzel with two singles.
The Ridgway-Curwensville winner will play top seed Coudersport (13-1) or No. 8 seed Keystone (10-6), which ousted No. 9 seed Union 10-0 in six innings Monday.
In that game, Matt Bashline retired 18 Golden Knights in a row after Clay Burns led off with a single. He struck out 10.
