JOHNSONBURG – Alanna Luzier, Megan Butler and Ashley Lias had three hits apiece and scored 10 runs at the top of the Clearfield lineup, while Mandy Rowles and freshman Katie Bowman limited Johnsonburg to one single in a 19-1, three-inning victory in scholastic softball action Tuesday afternoon.
Luzier, who is giving the Lady Bisons outstanding production in the leadoff spot, extended her hitting streak to six games, pounding a double and triple and driving in five runs.
Butler chased home four teammates with her second three-hit performance in a row.
Those two didn\’t leave many runners in scoring position for Lias, who had a double and did score four times.
\”They hit the heck out of the ball,\” coach Bob Dixon said after Clearfield\’s sixth win in a row. \”Everybody played a good game. They were aggressive at the plate even though they had to wait on the ball, and they looked real good in the field.
\”Mandy threw two good innings, and Katie got her first varsity work. She was a little nervous, but she threw pretty good.\”
Rowles notched her sixth victory with two hitless, shutout innings, striking out four.
Bowman fanned two Ramettes in her one inning in the circle, allowing one walk and an RBI-single by Kadie Zilkofski.
Clearfield put the game away in the first inning with 11 runs, the big blow a bases-loaded triple by Luzier.
Butler and Lias both had two safeties during the outburst.
Alyssa Anderson contributed two singles to Clearfield\’s 14-hit attack and drove in two runs.
Julie Colesar doubled and had three RBIs, while Rowles kept her hitting streak alive at six games with a two-bagger.
The Lady Bisons (6-2) will welcome Elk County Catholic to the Bison Sports Complex Thursday.
