PHILIPSBURG – The Philipsburg-Osceola High School Drama Club’s 80+ member cast and crew are working together to bring to the stage the popular, made for television Disney Channel movie High School Musical .
The stage version follows all the favorite characters with the brainiac Gabriella Montez(Kala Garcia) and the jock Troy Bolton (Adam Smeal) trying to break the ties of their given cliques and audition for their upcoming musical. Along with Troy and Gabriella, the message Zeke (Kyle Kelly), Martha (Debi Hirschbiel), Ripper (Jake Strouse), and Jack Scott (Travis Beres) are trying to convey to their “friends” in the cafeteria is that you don’t have to “Stick to the Status Quo”!
Conflict is magnified with the self absorbed Sharpay (Madyson Hardy) and her sidekick twin brother Ryan (Toby Anderson) when they attempt to sabotage Troy and Gabriella’s audition by manipulating their over exuberant Theatre teacher Ms. Darbus (Alexandria Godissart). Troy must deal with “Breaking Free” from his best friend Chad (DJ Matsko) and his overbearing father Coach Bolton (Ethan Washic) . Gabriella must decide between “The Start of Something New” with Kelsi (Kristin Fink) and her musical she wrote or helping her friend Taylor (Samantha Stiner)win the Science Decathalon. The ending message song and dance number “We’re All in This Together” is a finale that the audience will find themselves clapping and singing along to. This is followed by a fun-filled Megamix curtain call featuring all the standout songs.
