CLEARFIELD – Scott Vencil, a representative from Crabtree, Rohrbaugh and Associates, presented the bids for the district’s capital building projects at Monday night’s Clearfield Area School Board of Director’s committee meeting. He recommended the board approve each of the apparent low bidders.
“We received some good bids from local contractors,” Vencil said. “We’ve worked with all of t hem in the past. I’m confident adequate work will be done.”
He said the projects at three of the district’s buildings – Bradford and Centre Elementary and the High School – were split into six contracts.
Both the Centre and Bradford Elementary Schools will undergo paving and roofing improvements, while the high school will have roofing, mechanical, electrical and general construction renovations.
According to the firm‘s paperwork, the individual projects will cost: High School General Construction – $49,990; Centre and Bradford Elementary Paving Construction – $196,110.64; Bradford Elementary Built Up Roofing Construction – $247,600; Centre Elementary and High School Built Up Roofing Construction – $397,093; High School Mechanical Construction – $151,740; and High School Electrical Construction – $43,000.
Vencil said the total cost for the six projects is $1,085,533.64 and will not exceed the district’s $1.3 million budget for the projects.
“I’d recommend you approve each, so we can prepare and execute the contracts,” he said.
Vencil said the board’s approval would also allow the contractors to mobilize in May and begin when school lets out.
He assured board members the firm would be the “eyes and ears” for the projects at all three buildings throughout the summer.
