CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Fair Amateur Idol Contest is back for the 2008 fair and returning to its original format as a solo contest.
Applications are now being accepted until July 14 at the Clearfield County Fair office in the Clearfield Driving Park. Applications can be found online and at the fair office.
Only the first 50 entrants will be accepted. Contestants must be 13-years-old or older.
The judging criteria will include stage appearance, stage performance, creativity with chosen song, and voice quality, including range, pitch and clarity.
The preliminary round, which is acappella only, will be held on July 27 at 12:30 p.m. at the Grandstand stage. Fifteen contestants will be chosen to move on to the semi-finals which are held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of fair week. One contestant will be chosen from each of these nights to compete for the finals on Friday of fair week. Contestants will receive their information and their contestant number by mail.
The first-place winner will receive $500 and complimentary tickets to the Saturday night show at the fair. Second place will receive $200, and third place will win $50.
