CLEARFIELD – PennDOT’s project along state Route 1001 (Old Town Road) will begin next week with the removal of trees in Clearfield borough from Virginia to Latimer Streets. Tree trimming should be complete in the next two weeks.
Phase two of the project will be underway later in April. The entire project will stretch from the Hyde Bridge to the St. Francis School, with overall work including new storm sewer installation, minor bridge repair, new curbing, new guide rail and milling and resurfacing. The project will replace deteriorated drainage system, repair pavement base and provide a new road surface. Intermittent lane closures will be required with minor delays. Flaggers will be used when necessary.
PennDOT expects the project to be complete by October 2008, with all work weather dependent. The contractor on the $2.3 million job is New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc.
PennDOT reminds motorists to use caution and obey posted speed limits through all work zones. For more information on roadway construction and maintenance operations, visit PennDOT’s Web site.
