CLEARFIELD – The Lawrence Township Police Department have released the name of the area woman who has been charged with 226 counts of theft. Tammy Lynn Sipe has allegedly embezzled nearly $50,000 from the Super 8 Motel during a two-year time frame between January 2006 and December 2007.
“If you do the math, the amount comes to exactly $48,116.62,” Officer Mike Morris said.
According to Morris, Sipe was employed by the motel and served as the manager. She was allegedly removing money from a cash box at the motel.
Morris said the motel first reported the theft to police on Jan. 9 of this year.
“They had three months of data and knew $7,000 was missing,” he said. “We got involved then and investigated further back.”
Morris said other motel employees have told police Sipe had been observed removing money from the cash box and taking it into her office.
“It appears she was acting alone,” he said.
Morris said Sipe has also admitted to all 226 counts. “She has been cooperative with police.”
