HARRISBURG – State Police Commissioner Jeffrey B. Miller promoted Michael A. Patrick of Houtzdale to captain and assigned him as director of the Safety Program Division in the State Police Bureau of Patrol.
Patrick most recently served as commander of the Central Section of the Internal Affairs Division of the State Police Bureau of Integrity and Professional Standards.
A native of Hawk Run, Patrick enlisted in the state police in 1982. Following his training at the State Police Academy in Hershey, he was assigned to Troop E in Franklin.
As he progressed through the ranks, Patrick also served at stations in Lewistown, Rockview, Philipsburg, Hazelton, Hollidaysburg, DuBois, McConnellsburg and Bedford. He was promoted to corporal in 1988, sergeant in 1991 and lieutenant in 2000.
Patrick received a bachelor of science degree in administration of justice from Penn State University in 1981. He served in the U.S. Army Military Police from 1974 to 1978, stationed in Germany.
Patrick is married and has two children.
