CLEARFIELD – A Cherry Tree man accused of taking part in six burglaries waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
Luke James Patterson, 25, is charged in six cases. Five of the alleged incidents occurred on May 19, 2007, while the fifth reportedly occurred on May 25.
According to court records, Patterson and two others allegedly broke into a camp, a barn a home, a garage/barn, and a camp on May 19. In these alleged incidents, Patterson and his accomplices were reportedly driving and partying.
On Beaver Run Road, Patterson admitted to police that they used a sledgehammer to attempt to break a door open. He also admitted that they broke two windows.
At a barn structure along Shepard Lane Road, Patterson admitted that the three took a red lawn mower and a weed eater. When questioned what else they took, Patterson said that he was “too messed up” and could not recall. Another co-defendant admitted that the three had also taken salt blocks and hand tools from the barn.
At a residence on Harmony Road, the three allegedly broke into what they thought was an empty house. One co-defendant told police that they trashed the place and took a small black television and microwave oven. Both were items were taken into custody by police. Patterson told police that he was too messed up to recall what was taken or where it ended up.
At a barn structure along Sylvis Road, the three reportedly took a Troybilt 6.5 horsepower self-propelled lawn moer, an orange Stihl weed eater and a 3-ton floor jack.
At a cabin along Shepard Lane Road, the three reportedly used a sledgehammer to attempt to gain entry. A side window was broken but the three fled when an alarm went off.
In the last case, May 25, Patterson and a conspirator allegedly entered the home of a then-recently deceased person. They allegedly took a gun cabinet and split the guns between the two of them.
Patterson admitted that he had had gotten rid of his, eventually telling police that he traded the guns OxyContin.
Patterson is free on bail.
