Man Accused of Having Sex with a Minor Waives Hearing

CLEARFIELD – A Philipsburg man accused of having sexual contact with a 13-year-old waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Shawn Johnson, 26, is charged with aggravated indecent assault, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault and corruption of minors.

Court records indicate that police officers were attempting to serve a warrant on Johnson when they spoke with a woman at a place Johnson was reported to be at. The woman said Johnson was not there, and that she believed her daughter was having sexual relations with Johnson.

The daughter admitted to having sexual relations with Johnson while being interviewed by police. DNA evidence was taken from the girl’s clothing and other items.

When Johnson was apprehended on Oct. 9, police took DNA samples from him. Those samples matched the samples from the girl’s clothes, according to police.

Johnson is in Clearfield County Jail in lieu of bail.
