HARRISBURG – State Rep. Camille “Bud” George, D-74 of Clearfield County, announced his bill enabling Pine Township to lease land from the state for a new township building and storage facility is now law.
“Pine Township will be leased almost 2.5 acres of state forest land under a $1-a-year lease for up to 99 years,” George said. “Most suitable land for a township building is owned by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and House Bill 33 culminates the three-year effort to find a suitable solution.”
George thanked state Sen. Joe Scarnati, R-25 of Brockway, for his help in securing the lease.
The agreement stipulates that the land, valued at $13,200, will not be used for a waste-transfer station or a licensed gaming facility. The agreement, supported by both the DCNR and the state Department of General Services, was approved by unanimous votes in the state House and Senate.
