Man Accused of Failing to Register as Sex Offender Waives Hearing

CLEARFIELD – A Philadelphia man accused of failing to comply with registering as a sexual offender waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.

Shawn Roland, 30, is charged with two counts of failure to comply with registration as a sexual offender.

According to court records Roland was released from the State Correctional Institution – Houtzdale on April 28 due to the expiration of his sentence. He then failed to notify the Pennsylvania Megan’s Law Unit of his address change within a 48-hour time period.

The investigation revealed that a state trooper talked to Rowland. Rowland reportedly told the trooper that he lived in Philadelphia and was sending his paperwork to the Megan’s Law Unit. He told the trooper that he would contact them to straigten things out.

A call from the trooper to the Megan’s Law Unit indicated that Rowland did not report his address change or any new paperwork.

Rowland has since registered.
