BRADY TOWNSHIP – A 48-year-old Dubois man led DuBois-based state police on a car chase Saturday.
According to the state police, a trooper attempted to stop John Leland Hummel Sr. while he was on state Route 4003. He refused to stop and fled west on U.S. Route 322. He continued to Reynoldsville Borough where a Reynoldsville police officer attempted to end the pursuit with spike strips. Hummel avoided the strips and continued to Reynoldsville.
Police said that Hummel continued on to Tenth Street and began traveling on state Route 310. He went to Fire Tower then to O’Donnell Road and then on to Chips Road. Just before Chips Road meets SR 310 the Reynoldsville officer was able to set up the spike strips. This time Hummel ran over them, blowing out three of his tires.
He traveled a short distance on SR 310 before stopping. He was taken into custody and arraigned before Magisterial Distrcit Judge Richard Beck and was placed in Jefferson County Jail. A passenger in his vehicle was wanted in Clearfield County and was taken to Clearfield County Jail.
State police were assisted by Reynoldsville and Sykesville Borough Police Departments.
