DUBOIS – A request by citizens living along West Weber Avenue to change the street to two-way traffic was granted by DuBois City Council on Monday night.
The change will affect West Weber Avenue between Main Street and Franklin Street.
Residents stated that people were using the former one-way road as through it were two-way.
“We’ve changed it three times in five years,” commented Randy Schmidt, council member. Schmidt stated that it was changed to one-way for safety issues. He commented that the reason for that change, a hump in the road, is not there or not noticable now. He also added that if the change were to be approved, he would like to see it stick.
Council member William Boyle stated that if the roadway were open to two-way traffic, it would see more traffic. Boyle was the lone council member to vote down the change.
