REYNOLDSVILLE – Todd and Brenda Orsich are preparing for this week’s walk from their home in Clearfield to Hummingbird Speedway located in Reynoldsville.
The walk is to honor Todd’s dad, Mick, who lost his bout with cancer in September 2004. The Orsiches are trying to raise funds for the Hahne Cancer Center located in DuBois. The walk will start on Friday morning at 9 a.m. from their home on Southwest Fourth Avenue to Turnpike Avenue. From there they will walk to state Route 153 and up Rockton Mountain. After they reach the top of the mountain, they will turn and walk toward Rockton with a possible stop at Over The Mountain Restaurant. From there they will head toward DuBois with the final stop at Sheetz in downtown or at Orsich’s mother’s house on Brady Street.
The Orsiches will pick up where they left off at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon and walk down Liberty Boulevard and make the turn toward Falls Creek on U.S. Route 219. The Orsiches will then walk through Falls Creek and then make their way down Route 950 to Gospel Center Road. From there it’s up the hill toward the race track.
The walk will cover approximately 27 to 30 miles.
“We have had a lot of great responses from people and hope to continue to open people’s eyes to this horrible disease,” Orsich said.
