PHILIPSBURG – The Curwensville Teener League 13-and-14 All-Stars fell to 1-2 in the Area VI Tournament with a 7-4 loss to Philipsburg-Osceola at the Powerhouse Field Tuesday evening.
Manager Rick Redden\’s team will finish the tourney tonight at home against Punxsutawney (2-0) in a 5:30 start.
Curwensville banged out 12 hits but was limited to pairs of runs in the first and last innings by winning pitcher Hayden Hayward, who struck out five and walked two.
Andrew Redden accounted for three hits and drove in three runs. His two-run double drove in Boone McGary and Garrett Laborde in the top of the first, but P-O (1-2) also tallied a pair off LaBorde and went in front with two more in the third.
In the seventh for Curwensville, Tyler Milliron singled and eventually scored on an error. Singles by McGary, Laborde and Redden produced the final run.
McGary, LaBorde and Alex Holland had two singles apiece for Curwensville.
LaBorde was the loser, giving up five hits, three walks and six runs in four-plus innings. Redden relieved in the fifth and struck out two while allowing three hits, two walks and one run.
Dylan Corl starred for P-O with four hits, two of them doubles. Hayward had one double.
