Record Attendance for WHTF’s Retreat

CLEARFIELD – Women’s Health Task Force of Clearfield County members reviewed another successful spring retreat at their recent meeting, when they learned a record 86 women attended the event, held each June at Bethany Retreat Center in Frenchville since 1999.

“Evaluations were positive and included numerous suggestions for future topics. We’re already excited about next year,” said task force member Mary Walker.

A total of 19 participants opted for the blood cholesterol and glucose testing, 11 had their lung function evaluated and 65 osteoporosis foot scans were performed, she noted.

The task force also finalized the list of subjects for its monthly news column for the rest of 2007. Topics will include breast cancer in October, The Great American Smoke Out in November, World AIDS Day in December and, to kick off 2008, cataracts in January.

Members are turning their sights to an educational event in the fall, as well as partnering with the Coalition for Lung Health on another project.

The next task force meeting will be Aug. 2 at noon in the auditorium of the Clearfield County Multi-Service Center on Leonard Street, Clearfield. All interested in promoting women’s health are invited to join.
