CLEARFIELD – Emergency responders were on the scene in Clearfield early Wednesday morning after a tractor-trailer crashed into three homes.
Investigators are still putting together all of the details, but Lawrence Township Police Chief Jeff Fink told GantDaily Wednesday morning that speed was a factor.
“We do know he was traveling at a high rate of speed.”
Police do not know, however, why the driver was going so fast as he traveled toward Clearfield on state Route 153. Police are considering factors such as mechanical failure or driver error.
The out-of-state driver has not been identified, but as of 9:30 a.m., he was still trapped inside the truck, which was lodged inside one of the homes. The extent of his injuries are not known at this time.
One of the residents of the homes suffered minor injuries.
An accident reconstruction team from the state police is on the scene, and emergency responders were called in from as far away as Cambria County to aid in rescuing the driver from inside the truck.
GantDaily will have more information as soon as it becomes available.
