CURWENSVILLE – The Curwensville Teener League 13-and-14 All-Stars evened their Area VI Tournament record at 1-1 with a 10-8 victory over Philipsburg-Osceola at the Curwensville Area High School Field Wednesday evening.
Boone McGary paced Curwensville\’s 12-hit attack with three singles. Shane Hoover, Garrett LaBorde, Andrew Redden and Shae Best added two singles apiece.
Best was the winner, pitching 3-1/3 innings in relief of LaBorde. They gave up nine hits.
Haydon Hayward singled twice and Robbie Smith doubled for P-O (0-1), which will be home against Punxsutawney Friday at 5:30 p.m. and travel to Punxsy Sunday for a 5 p.m. game.
Curwensville, which lost 16-3 in 4-1/2 innings at Punxsy Monday, is idle until the rematch with Philipsburg-Osceola Tuesday. Manager Rick Redden\’s team will host Punxsy Wednesday in its tourney finale.
The champion will move on to the state tourney that begins July 25 at Lebanon.
