Moshannon Valley YMCA Preps for Dedication and Grand Opening

PHILIPSBURG – The last few months have been an exciting time for the Moshannon Valley YMCA, according to those at the facility.

The YMCA has upgraded its facilities in order to continue to serve all segments of the community’s population.

The Keno Beezer Baseball Complex, which officially opened in February, will enable young athletes to help build on the region’s already excellent baseball and softball traditions by providing a year-round, state-of-the-art indoor batting facility. Named for long-time YMCA Executive Director William “Keno” Beezer, this facility is drawing interest and participation not only from throughout the Moshannon Valley but from outside the region as well.

The John Manner Arts and Culture Center, which opened in April, is another example of the YMCA’s fulfilling its mission of serving all members of the community. The center is already offering voice and piano lessons, as well as adult and youth drama programs, and will soon be adding a complete slate of artistic and educational programming.

During Philipsburg’s 2007 Heritage Days, the Moshannon Valley YMCA will hold a grand opening and dedication ceremony to celebrate the opening of our new buildings.

On July 14, from 10 a.m. until noon, the YMCA will be open to the public to tour the new buildings. At 10:30 a.m., a dedication ceremony will be held to honor the gentlemen for whom the complexes are named, as well as to thank those whose generosity made this dream reality.

The Moshannon Valley YMCA invites the public to attend this event and see the great strides the Moshannon Valley YMCA has made.
