BRADFORD — Former Curwensville Area High School three-sport athlete Bart McGary had a hit in both games of the Pitt-Bradford baseball team\’s split with Penn State-Behrend in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action last Tuesday.
The freshman utility infielder raised his average to .500 for the season. In nine games, four as a starter, he is 9-for-18 with one double and one run batted in. He\’s scored six runs for the Panthers, who are third in the AMCC at 3-1 and 13-4 overall after losing 4-0 and then winning 5-4 against Behrend.
Also, McGary is one of 500 student-athletes named to the AMCC Academic All-Conference Team for 2006-07.

GREENSBURG — Junior Andrew Kirsch of Clearfield was hitless in two official at-bats as the designated hitter for Seton Hill College in the nightcap of last Tuesday\’s doubleheader at California University of Pennsylvania.
Kirsch, who also walked in the 6-1 loss that dropped the Griffins\’ record to 19-10, is hitting .262 for the season. He is 11-for-42 with three doubles, two home runs, 10 runs batted in and 10 runs scored. He has drawn four walks and been hit by a pitch twice.

SLIPPERY ROCK — After missing four more games last week, junior first baseman Scott Hugney of Frenchville is hoping to returning to the Slippery Rock University baseball lineup this week.
The Clearfield Area High School graduate has missed 17 games since suffering a high ankle sprain March 11 against Charleston (W.Va.) in Fort Myers, Fla. He was hitting .364 at the time.
The Rock is tied for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division lead at 4-2 with Indiana and Shippensburg. Slippery Rock swept Gannon 10-9 and 10-2 last Tuesday and PSAC-West rival Lock Haven 15-8 in eight innings and 11-2 Saturday to pad its record to 18-8.

CLARION — Junior outfielder Jimmy Collins of Clearfield will not play for the Clarion University baseball team this season.
A standout for Allegany College of Maryland the last two seasons, Collins is taking a medical redshirt because of a shoulder injury.
